Guess we're gonna leave this baby behind.
Rising teacher salaries? Do they know that teachers have to live here too! What, should they commute from someplace affordable, like the Carolina's?What about the increased state and local cost of compliance with the un(der)funded "No Child Left Behind ACt? I am all for accountability in the case of teachers, but I have a few things to point out. Children are not widgets and the educational system is NOT A FACTORY! Relying exclusively on the Measuring ofprogress thru these standardized tests is a faullty conceit. Secondly, why must a teacher face job loss because of this? How about some accountability on the parent or, heaven forfend, the student? If a Doctor tells an obese patient to go on a diet, cut down on sweets etc. and the patient doesn't, has a heart attack, does he get his license pulled? If a doctor tells a patient with emphysema to stop smoking, and they don't and tehn they get cancer? Who is responsible? If a patient doesn't brush their teeth and they get cavities, even though they were told to brush and floss. . .Yeah, the increases are incredible and should have been voted down. I am in the system and will tell you, you want to see waste, check in the administrative level. Middle management salaries. Now there is some bullshit.
