Seafood Festival 05

Seafood Festival 05Went to this today. The shuttle bus was not continuous. Not until Dorothy complained. . .Not bad, not great. . .fair is heavy on the "Crafts", light on the neat stuff, like cheap liquor and nude chicks. Seriously, I have a hard time with Craft FAirs; what is the point to all those macrame and tickytack geegaws? The food oriented booths make sense, cuz, well, everyone eats. . .love the booths that aim at makin my taste buds tingle, sizzle or ask questions. F'rinstance, I had a soft-shell crab sandwich and a deep fried twinkie (and soon, a coronary). Both were somewhat disgusting, yet compelling, like that movie "The LAst American Virgin".
The music was good too. . .I must ask though, were the only singers of sea chanties (spell that ten times fast) Irishmen? Every group/performer had an Irish name or tone to it.
My major bugaboo is usually the size of crowds at these things. . .there seems to be just too many fucking people at these things, from shifty, seedy fairs in a mall parking lot to disorganized, scattered street festivals, to the family centered church bazaars and firemen's fairs; so many of us. Not so bad at this event, plenty of space, and a nice size crowd. MAybe the baby helps. . .he is just too damn cute, and a flirt like his mom and dad, smiling at/for everyone.
Yet someone is always selling potpourri. Blech.
